CURRICULUM

There is a difference between studying and learning. We forget what we studied last year but remember what we learned 50 years ago. In our school, we call ourselves as learners instead of students.

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) method of learning focuses on learning against the usual memorization. One of the reasons for this is the poor knowledge in language. We give importance to all three language systems feeding the state, central and the global needs. Yes, equal importance is given to Tamil, Hindi and English and every child will be able to speak, read, and write in this trio. We don’t need to mention our fourth language, smile, that is a part of our school.

Unlike our native language that focuses on phonetic way of learning, English is a combination of Latin, French, Germanic, Greek and other languages and so non-English speaking people find it hard to master this language. Montessori is a proven method to teach and learn English and we follow this method in our school. Even students from a village background are learning it quickly using this method.

Books and teachers decide a student’s learning. In addition to adhering to the NCERT text books, we select good books from various publishers and provide them to teachers so that they are well equipped. Our teachers plan for the whole year and then schedule for every week so that they know exactly what to do. We teach arts and crafts by a special teacher, yoga and sports by Physical Education Teacher. Extra care is also taken by our teachers on preparing worksheets for students to make them love what they learn.
