We celebrated Pongal in our school on 13-01-2025 (Monday). The celebration kicked off with a warm and joyous atmosphere as students and teachers came together to celebrate the harvest festival. Boiling Pongal, symbolised the beginning of the celebrations.
The program featured a series of exciting events including Silambam, showcasing traditional Tamil martial arts, and a range of fun-filled games for both students and teachers. Students enjoyed and actively participated in various games, such as Pinata, Tug of War, Stick rotation to Sugarcane Biting, and Fast Crawling Under the Chair.
Then the celebration continued with a welcome address by Keerthika Saraswathi from Grade 11, followed by an Invocation Dance by Akshaya Kowshika from Grade 6. The winner of Tamil Elocution, Sanchana spoke on the topic “Manpanayum Pongalum”, a debate between the students from Grade 6 to Grade 9 on the topic “Tamil vs English”. All the students encouraged both the team members.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, there was a dance by Manoshiya from Grade 4 and Jeishiya from Grade 2. Then the winner of Thirukkural recitation, Branusha recited Kurals followed by the Principal Address.
Then prizes and certificates for the Pongal competition were distributed and the event ended with vote of thanks given by Jefrin from Grade 11, at last Sweet Pongal was distributed to everyone.
The program was emceed by Junior Jobaina and freshmen Chandru. This event served to falicitate the spirit of Pongal and fostered a sense of community and joy among students and teachers.
